A few small updates:

* 'V6 24VALVE' stickers fitted to the rear doors.

* Bought a 1:43 scale model of an Aurion (Asian Camry) from eBay.

* Received some Rays wheel nuts from Japan. Watch this space ;)

And I decided it was time to upgrade my brakes, but I didn't need want to go for bigger calipers or larger rotors since my daily commute to work is only 10km and it's mostly straight, lol, so I settled on these Znoelli dimpled drilled and slotted rotors front and rear, combined with Bendix brake pads all round.

The Aurion got some new wheels today. They're Vertini Magic (concave) 19x9.5 front and rear, +32 offset and wrapped in 235/35/19 rubber. They get custom drilled for the stud pattern and shaved for the offset you want so I had to wait about a week for them to get machined, but it was worth waiting for :). Being concave they bow in the middle, giving that very dished effect.

The rear guards needed to be rolled as there was slight scrubbing around corners, but apart from that the fitment was pretty straight forward. I just have to get some camber bolts for the front so I can give it some negative camber and tuck the wheels in a bit more, but apart from that the fitment is great and I'm loving the new look :D

Thanks! I was looking at different wheel options for one whole weekend and probably went through every wheel design available before deciding on these ones. As soon as I saw them I knew they were "the ones" and after half a dozen Photoshops my mind was made up :)

I threw some camber bolts in the front tonight. It's evened it out nicely now, so no more strange poke at the front.

But indeed, the front needs some more lowering to make it look even better.

Re: My '06 Toyota Aurion SX6 Sportivo

Thanks guys. I completely agree with you - The front is too high in comparison to the rear. This is a very common problem with lowering springs on this car since the rear guards physically sit lower than the front. The problem was amplified since I put my new wheels on since the overall diameter of the wheel/tire was smaller than my original 18" set-up.

However, yesterday I decided that enough was enough and after considering all of my options (coilovers, compressing springs etc) I decided that the most logical and cost effective way to fix the problem was to go one tire size bigger in the front to fill up the guards a bit more. Other benefits are that they bring the lip of the rim further away from potholes and are a bit more comfortable since you don't feel every dip and crack in the road. The fronts are 225/40/19 and the rears are 235/35/19. The old tyres are only a few weeks old, but the wheel-well gap was bugging the hell out of me. It's not perfect, but it never will be unless I spend $2000+ on a coilover set-up for the sake of 20mm, so for now I'm happy :)

Aww, thanks mate :). And thanks for pointing out that it's at the top of the page! *shh, don't tell them it's not a Corolla :P *

I had been thinking of a way to fill the void in the engine bay where the factory intake used to be and ended up killing two birds with one stone by settling on this large oil catch tank. It's designed to catch blow-by oil from the PCV valve during full throttle and turns the vapor into a mist that settles in the bottom of the catch tank instead of getting sent back into the intake manifold.

Radium Engineering made a catch tank set-up for the Lotus Evora (which uses the same 2GR-FE engine) and owners have reported quite a lot of oil being caught, so they sound like they could be quite beneficial on this engine. I had one on the Corolla and it worked well, so I figured it'd be worth a shot in the Aurion. Ended up putting my factory silver engine cover back on at the same too, as I prefer the cleaner look compared to my carbon fiber wrapped cover (which I'll still keep to mix things up every now and then).

Will be interesting to see how much oil this thing collects :)

Thanks man :). Haha, the supercharger was only ever available on the TRD model so can't be purchased separately, unless you buy a complete engine, and the TRD model was only available for the Australian market - So either way it would cost a lot, lol. I'm happy with the amount of power it has for the mere 10km drive to work every day, so likely will never go down the forced induction route ;)

How the hack is it possible that you constantly post photos of a beautiful nice and clean washed Aurion?? I wash my car more than enough, but posting clean car photos every week is impossible for me... :P haha! And I also have to say that you find nice photo spots to take your Aurion to every time! Good job! :)

Re: My '06 Toyota Aurion SX6 Sportivo

I installed these LED bumper reflectors today. I haven't see this particular style on any Aurion before so when I saw them I knew I had to have a set :). They're designed to be 100% plug-and-play with no splicing required and mount the exact same way as the stock reflectors.

The worst part about the whole job is that you have to remove the rear bumper in order to get to the screw on the back holding the reflector in, but it didn't turn out to be as difficult as I had imagined.

After fitting them I found that they were really quite bright, in fact too bright, so I put a layer of tint film over each light to dull down the light output a bit. Not 100% sold on the tinted look however, so time will tell if I pull the tint off or not. Either way, the lights are here to stay.

The lights come on when the park lights are on and get brighter when you brake. They also have the ability to flash when you indicate, but this looked tacky in my opinion so I left that particular plug disconnected.

All in all it's a nice simplistic mod that looks like it was there from the factory. Below are a series of photos in their original form and then tinted.

Also, these carbon fiber vent stickers arrived in the mail today so I figured I'd chuck them on and see how they look. I'm not normally a fan of dull/matte carbon fiber designs but these were nice and cheap. I traced around them before sticking them on so I can try and make my own ones out of glossy carbon in future:
